Gloves
General household, garden and work gloves are made from a variety of materials including cotton, wool, rubber and leather. Deciding which type is best depends on the task that needs to be completed.
Here's a few tips on glove selection to help make the process easier.
- Cotton gloves are often paired with vinyl-coated or plastic-impregnated ribbed palms for easier gripping.
- Animal skins, such as sheepskin or cowhide leather, are especially comfortable and rugged to withstand tough jobs. Cost can be more for higher quality.
- The weight and firmness of the glove gives a good indication of what the wear will be like after use; rubber for wet tasks, leather to prevent blistering and knit wrists for yard work.
